Week 4 Term 2 2018

We are continuing to work hard on our production and some parts are coming together nicely. The back drops are nearly finished, many of the props and costumes have been gathered, most of the characters know their lines, and we are now making sure we know all the words of all the songs.
This doesn't mean we have slackened the learning pace at all though!

Mrs Ferguson always brightens up our week - this time with an illustration about bubbles.

One group was able to make pancakes on Friday - and they were kind enough to share them with everyone.

It was very nice to be able to catch up with some of the sport on Saturday. Everyone I saw, played with heart and team spirit.

Week 3

The main events of week 3, of course, have been the Rippa tournament, the Playhouse theatre group, and the ongoing hard work for our production.
Great "floss" moves, Ashley!
Little Red Riding Robyn Hood was very funny, and particularly helpful to us, as we rehearse for our own spot on the stage. We made a point of noticing how people stay in character, and what they do when they are still on the stage, but not speaking.

Rippa was really fun. The Motto "Touch For All" certainly applied - anyone can play and enjoy this game!

Of course, it's not all fun and games, although there is no reason why learning can't be fun, and can't be learned through games! In maths we are learning about multiplication strategies, and using arrays is one of the strategies that are helpful for working out larger sums, like 27 x 6 = ?
Good work, Connie!

You would have seen in the Rosebank Newsletter this week, some examples of what we have been doing in writing.
Congratulations to Ry who is student of the week this week, and Zacch who was student of the week last week.

Ry: "For working hard in any situation. Ry has contributed great ideas in writing, worked hard to complete reading tasks, and made fantastic progress in fractions."

"Zacch has shown great focus on his work and kindness towards his classmates. He has made it his top priority to behave as the person he wants to be. He is working hard at being someone who leaves happy, positive footprints behind him in life."

Well done to Ry and Zacch!

Work continues on our production practices, and this week we were lucky to have Mrs Penn come in to help us with our backdrops.

Mufti days are always fun, and Room 8 became the "hospital" on Friday, for injured teddies to be helped on their way with bandages and slings.

Term 2 week 1

It is so nice to be back at school and to see everyone again!
This term our big focus, is of course our production, Dragon Days. This will screen on 13th and 14th June, so please save the date and make sure all your whanau know they are warmly welcomed to come. The cost will be $2:00 per seat.
There is a lot of work to do before then - making scenery, learning lines, finding and making costumes and props..... But we have made a good start and so far the singing sounds great and we are all enjoying the process.
In the holidays we borrowed some resources from the COEC library - reading resources and some building equipment for those wet winter lunchtimes.

This week Constable Gordon visited us and talked to us about Cyber Safety. We will follow this up with the Doing the Right Thing Programme later on in the term.

Alex introduced us to his newest family member Indi - what a cutie!

On Friday we had a visit from the circus, to give us a taste of what they can do.

Last week of term 3

We are over half way! Our walk on Friday was lots of fun. We had 118 students, 15 adults and 3 dogs, and we all walked 8 km. That's a to...
