Week 11

Happy Holidays everyone!
It has been a fun and busy term and week 11 was no exception. Our trip to the Water treatment station was very informative and I was really impressed with the insightful questions the students asked. So was Malcolm Rae, from Fulton Hogan, who showed us his work.

Then we walked along the river bank to get to know our very own Mata-Au better. We saw where it splits in two and becomes the Matau and the Koau branches.

Grateful thanks to Mrs Goodwin, Mr Thompson, Mrs Rose and Grandma who accompanied us.

This week we received our postcards from our partner school in Tauranga. It was great to unpack our parcel and get to know other year 5 and 6 students in New Zealand.

Speaking of unpacking, we also unpacked our water cycle experiment, and discovered that the sun had indeed made our dirty water evaporate, condensate and the precipitate as clean water.

And finally - thank you to all the families and grandparents who came to make our Grandparents' day a special day.

Week 10

A short week - but there still seems to have been plenty to do.
The highlight of the weekend would have to be the helicopter that Kimberlie arranged for the whole of South Otago to enjoy. Thank you Kim. Great that so many people were able to come down and see the Seasprite.

This week we have been holding auditions for our upcoming production "Dragon Days" which will be performed on or around the 13th and 14th June. Mrs Clarke (Director), Miss Fairbairn (Backstage Manager) and Mrs Reid (Musical Director) have been so impressed with the courage and ability of all the candidates who put themselves forward for a major part.

On Friday we were very sad to farewell Kobie, who is shifting to Invercargill and will be attending Newfield School. All the best Kobie!

We have also been practising football for the tournament on Tuesday next week, looking forward to our trip to the Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday, Grandparents' Day on Thursday - and of course the holidays at the end of next week.

Last week of term 3

We are over half way! Our walk on Friday was lots of fun. We had 118 students, 15 adults and 3 dogs, and we all walked 8 km. That's a to...
