Week 3 in Room 8

There's nothing like an assembly item to make you realize how much work you have packed in. Everyone enjoyed their moment in the sun and it was a chance for us to show off our hard work in the last 3 weeks.

On Friday we had a guest speaker - Zacch McRae from Room 7. Zacch showed us the ticket his great great great great grandmother had, for the ship which came to Quarantine Island in 1874. Fascinating!

Grandparents' Day was delightful, and it was so interesting to hear stories from yesteryear.

We even played some old fashioned games  -like marbles, pick up sticks and Yahtzee.

Thank you Kaleb! Kaleb very kindly brought slushies for everyone in Room 8 - and there was even enough left over to give the grandparents one. What a lovely treat on a hot afternoon.

This week we are looking forward to our school athletics on Wednesday.

Week 2

This week we managed to finish most of the Garden art works, and make good progress on our statistical investigations. Here we are assessing the contents of lunch boxes, and counting the colours of cars that went past the school, at different times of the day.

Athletics training continues and we are definitely improving. Week 3 will see us on stage in the hall during Thursday's assembly - we hope to see you there!

Term 1, week 1

It has been great to start to gel as a class this year, and to hear about all the adventures people had during the holidays. We have 30 enthusiastic students in Room 8 this year and we have made a good start on our learning already. Miss Benington will take the class most often on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Our topic this year is Always Take The Weather With You, and we will look at weather through the lenses of all our curriculum areas - science, social sciences, The Arts, Maori  technology, literacy etc.
This week we started some ambitious painting projects.

We have begun our statistics unit in maths, and we are presenting All About Me posters next week. We enjoyed Jesse's demonstration of the drone he bought in the holidays. It's looks very tricky, but he's quite skilled at it!

Last week of term 3

We are over half way! Our walk on Friday was lots of fun. We had 118 students, 15 adults and 3 dogs, and we all walked 8 km. That's a to...
